I met my first greyhound
infatuation, Jetīs Stardust at a show in ī79. In 1984 I got his
daughter, Jetīs Wild Cat, Katty, as a gift from Stardustīs owner.
I had wanted a greyhound since the first time I saw one, and was
so happy to take her home! For various reasons we never bred Ch Trendy Pirate Copy, Ratata, even though she was a top contender and did well at shows. Fate intervened at a point where we were uncertain of which direction to go in our "greyhound life" when given the chance to look after Trecarne Astronomer for a couple of weeks. He was an absolute gentleman, kind and dignified, and when we learned that his sister Trecarne Amber of Solstrand had been bred to Gulds Tawny Topstar at the age of 8+ (!) we just had to have one of the puppies! From the day he came to live with us a puppy in 1993 (Titten amongst his friends) added smiles and beauty to our lives. He came from a very special litter of 5, sired by the famous Int Ch Gulds Tawny Topstar out of the equally renowned Int Ch Trecarne Amber of Solstrand. Several of his siblings have made their mark on greyhound pedigrees in many countries. Tittenīs sweet little niece, Sobers Vizia (better known as Prima), aided him in his efforts to keep us happy all her life. We lost her to cancer shortly before her 9th birthday, in december 2003. Her father was Tittenīs brother, Swed Ch Sobers Siglorious, who has sired one litter out of the English import Ch Scotwill Aquamarine Dream. Although being very sparingly shown, Prima won 3 CCs. Not only being the best companion we could wish for: Tittenīs qualities were appreciated by both breed specialists and allrounders in the show ring since his show career started as a youngster. He gained his Norwegian and Swedish Champion titles at only 2, and his International title almost 5 years later, He was also a group placer at International Shows in 3 countries; Denmark, Sweden and Norway! What made us the most proud, however, was seeing how beautifully he keeps in his old age. Imagine our thrill when he, shortly after his 9th birthday was 3rd best male in tough competition at the Greyhound Speciality in Tammsvik ("Skokloster"), judged by Mr. Espen Engh. His latest BOB was gained just weeks before his 10th birthday, and since his 7th he won 5 Best Veteran in Show! Till the day he died he regularly lead his pack up the mountain on lovely outings, and our fondest memories of him is the image of a proud 11+ year old - but still rather childish - boy playing with his girls on the moors. Having to say good-bye to him in February of 2005 has left a huge void in our lives. |
